Women Advancement Organization (WAO) is a national non-profit Organization (NNGO), founded in 2012 in Juba, South Sudan, registered by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) registration No.439. Purposely established to;
Central Equatorial, Western Bahar El Ghazel, Lake’s state, Western Equatorial, Jonglei state, Upper Nile, Unity, Eastern and Western Equatoria States and one administrative area of Abyei.

To reduce illiteracy among women and out of school youth, improve their livelihoods, protect their rights and increase their participation in socio-economic activities.

Food security and livelihood, (FSL) We engage communities in vegetable production, income generating activities, fruit seedling, village saving and lending association, crop production and seed distribution to the conflict affected population.
We engage communities in Early Childhood Development, Accelerated Learning Program, Technical Vocational Education Training, mobile Pastoralist education programs, Language/English course & Functional literacy/adult education program.
We respond to Gender Based violence through awareness raising via community workshops, film production on ending of early child marriage, trainings of GBV volunteers, ,referrals, Advocacy, Psychosocial support, reproductive health programming, economic empowerment, dissemination of child act policies, establishment of women & child friendly space for out of school children and adolescent, GBV Campaigns such as (Mama RaSakit campaign) awareness raising and dialogue on prevention of recruitment of child soldier)
We engage communities on Conflict analysis, conflict prevention, community dialogue, policy development and governance. WAO integrates conflict sensitive approaches in education programmes and training to foster a culture of peace in the communities where we work. Establishing and enhance networks within Government and other stakeholders including sector clusters undertaking peace building through education and training activities.
